At Milan Design Week 2026, Shota Shimode presented CONTEXTS at 5VIE Design District in Milan. Exhibition explored the time, memory, and layered histories embedded in materials, translating them into contemporary objects. Four works were shown: Anomaly, a lamp made with recycled sake-bottle glass and stone-processing techniques; Retrace, a carved wooden stool that follows growth rings; Coexist, tableware composed of different solid woods; and Transmission, a lighting object that treats light as a material.
