Concave.
2024
Concave. is one of the projects co-developed with E-Stonetech. Discarded glass — mostly empty bottles — is melted into a single mass and then carved using E-Stonetech’s refined cutting technology. Its form is made of two spherical surfaces of different radii, front and back, cut out into a square. Though the material carries real weight, it rests on just four points — appearing to sit lightly rather than sink into the floor. Transparency and a stone-like density coexist in the material — a color that exists only because it is recycled glass. To let that mass and color speak, the form is distilled into the simplest of objects: a tray.
